Noor, Our Youngest Maker

This is an illustrative story. Names and some details have been changed to protect the privacy of the people we work with.

Noor left school early to help support her family, and for a while it looked as though that would be the shape of her life — informal work, low pay, no path forward. She was nineteen and already worried her chances had passed.

She joined our programme as one of the youngest trainees we’ve taken on, and she learns fast. Her glazing is bright and assured; her enthusiasm lifts the whole bench. She is saving part of every wage with a plan to finish her education in the evenings.

“I used to think my future was decided,” she says. “Now I think I get to decide it.” For us, there is no better description of what this work is for.

Every purchase changes a life
